Tribes, We Need You to Lead Us

Thursday, October 23rd 2008 @ 8:50 AM (not yet rated)    post viewed 1189 times

One of my favourite writers, Seth Godin, has just released his latest book; Tribes, We Need You to Lead Us.

I looked for the book at Whitcoulls and was told it won't be available until early December, so I downloaded the freebie audiobook from Audible, put it on my iPod and Seth read it to me while I went about my daily chores.

Talk about inspirational.

Seth Godin is one of the most brilliant thinkers of the new paradigm that I know of, and sets an example to aspire toward.

Ok, so it's a book about marketing. No, no, no, it's way more than that.

Seth talks about Tribes, how you can become the leader of your own tribe (if it's right for you in this moment) and how we need these leaders more than ever. There are tribes everywhere and guess what, people just love to be members of many, many tribes.

He gives real-life examples of tribes and their leaders and how they are effecting change around the planet.

He also talks about how the Internet has enabled leaders to grow and communicate with their tribes and yet clearly states that being the leader of a tribe is not dependant upon the Internet. The Internet builds scalability.

He talks about how the organisations of the future are fast, flexible, and on a mission.

Are you on a mission?

As I said earlier, I downloaded the freebie version from Audible, however, there are several options on how to get this book, you can also buy the audio book from iTunes for a under dollar (US$) and (by giving it away free) it has become the number one bestselling audio book in the world. Price matters, apparently.

If you want the freebie promotion from Audible (you'll have to register first) go to; www.audible.com

There is also the "souvenir, dead tree, hardcover edition" that you can actually read yourself and the only place I've found it available from is Fishpond and you can get it here; Seth Godin: Tribes, We Need You to Lead Us

Enjoy!

Almost 100 of New Zealand's finest in the Holistic Living community

Sunday, October 5th 2008 @ 1:01 PM (not yet rated)    post viewed 1223 times

We now have almost 100 of New Zealand's finest holistic healers & practitioners (94 at last count) within the Holistic Living community and the site is getting busier all the time.

We've opened up the monthly and yearly payment options for full membership to advertisers, for just $10 per month or $100 per year you have full access to the site and all of the tools available, including the member webpages and more importantly the blogs.

This is an affordable way to advertise and promote yourself within the LOHAS, cultural creative and holistic / spiritual community.

I'm so happy that this has come from planting just a few seeds, we are growing this site locally, organically, naturally and sustainably.

To celebrate our success, the first 10 people who sign up on either the monthly or yearly plan, I will personally setup your blog and create you member webpage for you on Holistic Living. All you have to do is provide the content.

Now, for all of you who are still unsure of what a blog is and why you'd want one, here's a 3 minute video that clearly explains what a blog is - in plain english.

Enjoy :)

Congrats on reaching the almost-100 mark, Stephen. You are doing a great job, keep it up.

And one of these days I will have time to start that blog finally...

It is exciting to read that you, Stephen, have achieved this goal in such a short time. You continually provide me with much that I know I should implement, but as yet have to apply this new knowledge.

Blessings to you and all who sail with you. Gary Cook
