Now it's New Zealand's turn to choose

I feel inspired. Do you feel inspired too?
With most of the world watching the US elections and voting for change with their hearts and minds, I've just had the absolute pleasure and delight of being a part of and witnessing a massive shift in consciousness and the next step on humanities (and my own) search for peace and enlightenment.
From the moment I first saw Barack Obama and heard what he was saying I felt a deep connection and resonance with him. This connection was obviously felt by many and inspired a massive movement.
It was Barack Obama's appeal to the very heart and soul of the global population on Earth that got him to where he is.
He's the leader of a tribe, possibly the tribe you're in, perhaps the so-called "cultural creatives" that will have their say in making this a clean, green, sustainable and peaceful planet that we all inhabit.
"When you speak from the heart, everyone listens, because that's when God is talking"
Louix Dor Dempriey
Seth Godin was brave enough to predict the outcome of the election the night before and give reasons why it would happen, from a marketing point of view.
It was the Internet and the new social media that enabled Barack Obama to spread his message far and wide and to create a new tribe of followers.
Websites like YouTube and Digg gave people from all over the world the opportunity to tune in and vote up or down the stories that were circulating on video and through the press.
By giving his tribe the opportunity to follow him through Twitter, his website and his blog, he kept everyone in the tribe in touch with his message of hope and created the opportunity to spread the message easily, virally and globally.
Saturday provides New Zealanders with the opportunity to have our own say in creating a better world and I hope that after the success of the Barack Obama campaign that was evoking change, we in New Zealand carry the mantle of change in electing a Government that leads the world in that same vein.
New Zealand has led the world on so many significant points throughout it's short history and could be described as the oldest democracy in the world, having given indigenous Maori men the right to vote in 1867 and women the right to vote in 1893.
When I go to the polls this weekend, I know where I will be putting my energy and focus; on the greater good of all.
I won't be voting for the economy.
There are far more important issues that need to be dealt with in conjunction with the economy. There are no jobs on a dead planet.
I won't be voting for law and order.
Putting more police on the streets won't make less criminals, it will only create a greater polarity. Look at what Barack Obama and the "world police" intend to do, shut down Guantanamo Bay and take their "policemen" out of Iraq.
I've done a couple of Vipassana meditation courses and seen the difference that meditation makes to even the hardest of criminals. Unfortunately this has not been adopted in New Zealand as yet.
I also won't be voting for health and education, at least not from a governmental point of view. As Barack Obama said himself, the government cannot switch off the TV and cannot read books to your children.
The choice is simple for me;
- the environment v's the economy
- love v's fear
The shift is happening right now and it's our tribe, a new generation of cultural creatives and innerpreneurs that are showing the way.
Even non-New Zealanders can be involved in this, just as the rest of the world said a prayer for Barack Obama and change.
Brick by brick, stone by stone, together we'll rebuild the temple of Shamballa from the inside out.
What are your thoughts and feelings?
