Don Tolman has had privileged access to private museums, rare books collections, and ancient manuscripts, and has rediscovered the secrets of health & vitality lost to humanity for millennia.

Dr Shaun Holt, Author of Natural Remedies That Really Work
As seen on TV1 Breakfast every fortnight.

A New Zealand Guide, is about what medical research actually says about natural health products and therapies that other sources recommend. In a world that's besieged by extravagant claims for an avalanche of natural remedies, who should we believe, and how can we get the information we need to make the right choices?

Shaun draws on a data base of 200,000 patients. The answers to these and many more questions are in this book. A surprising number of natural remedies are the subject of high-quality clinical research, Natural Remedies that Really Work summarises and evaluates the most important and interesting research in a concise and user friendly format. A must for all New Zealand families looking for complementary natural health remedies.

GreenplanetFM104.6 Special Christmas Thank You

Thursday, December 18th 2008 @ 7:43 AM (not yet rated)    post viewed 1027 times

Kia Ora Dear Supporters of GreenplanetFM104.6 On Thurs 8-9am

The Green planet radio program has been broadcasting from Auckland's sky tower for 4 years now and this has been a very stimulating and information rich time for me as a presenter and I trust for you as listeners.

It is now also streamed from the web on www.planetaudio.org.nz or www.holisticliving.co.nz this takes us to a global audience, which I trust inspires individuals, families and communities where-ever they may be on our marvelous planet, to consciously work in peace to a sustainable and better world of tomorrow.

And how things have changed, especially over the last year where we have come to a realisation that the monetary ways of man has been eaten away by the tapeworm economy, which lacking any virtue has been built as a house of cards. This house is now having its foundations eroded away from it, and we need to be very astute in reading behind the headlines, and accessing our information from alternative news sources. We need to be proactive in researching both the challenges and the solutions to our current dilemma.

And though the economic essentials are currently overriding the dogged headway we have made in environmental awareness over the last few years, it is crucial that we bring balance to both these two imperatives as we move towards sustainability. The urgency can only be understood from the knowledge of deep ecology in that the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we eat comes from the environment. Its source springs from a healthy living planet. And it is vital that we connect the dots by thinking things through to make the connection.

Mysteriously enough it is worth noting, that the words ecology and economy share the same root – from the ancient Greek word Ecos, which translates to meaning house or habitat. Economy refers to how to manage our house and Ecology how to know or understand it. They are two sides of the same coin, and one day soon I trust we will have politicians and business people, embrace this knowledge and take appropriate and urgent action to bring about a new understanding of our relationship to this living planet that loans us bodies in which to live.

Last year I said that: "We are at a juncture in the earths evolution where solutions are urgently required to find ways to avert the consequences of not being truly conscious of our inter-relationship with ecological concerns, and all biota ... and especially that we be mindful of the billions of children that across the face of our planet are in need of love and leadership as they look forward to their yet un realised future."

So what has quickly emerged in the last year across New Zealand has been the term transition towns - transition towns now number 43 across the country and are gathering momentum, very much like the Nuclear free zones that sprang up across New Zealand back in the mid 1980s to counter the lunacy of the nuclear arms race that was escalating at that time.

Transition Towns is an initiative for our times, where community at grass roots levels is springing forth a leaderless movement to respond to the twin challenges of climate change and peak oil, but can now be seen as an instrument to peacefully react to the global economic fall-out that is regrettably gathering impetus … as well as act, as a back-up civil response in the case of an earthquake or tsunami if such unfortunate occurrences happen.

These transition town groups are popping up in towns, suburbs, islands, communities and regions and the aim is to relocalise communities making them vibrant, resilient and truly sustainable. And what pulls them together are permaculture organic gardens for producing food and "living economies" where localised currencies such as green dollars and time banking, can assist the community to remain cohesive and peaceful during times of transition and hardship. Google Transition Towns and check for yourself.

So I encourage you to research and seed the idea of a transitional town in your locality. It's such a positive affirmation of what conscious people can achieve. And very necessary in times ahead.

And let us think and discuss innovative ways to promote solutions for our individual and collective future with both our friends and neighbours. Where we move forward as a nation modelling the virtues of sustainability.

At this time I wish to thank the many people, who supported this Green Planet programme ... first the PlanetFM staff at Unitec, (where our station sits among trees and grass) who have as I have year after year given me superb back up … and to the following who have donated money, energy and time.

Namely; Delaine Jones, Michael Fleck, Elaine Dyer, Hersh & Lynn Lorkin, Kapil Arn, Ruth Tai, Roger Mockton, Lisa Er, Susie Vincent, Ian Cambourne, John Coombs, Ocean Numan, Paul Hobin, Vivienne Wright, Teresa Gibson and Marshal Lefferts, plus ... Ella Linwood in Maleny and Pam Mariko in Caloundra, Australia.

Without your assistance and goodwill this program would quite possibly have never made it. I thank you. I also thank you many listeners who phoned into the radio station to let the station manager know that this program is doing its job. This feed -back was significant.

At present I am working with www.greenplanetFM.com to give you more information about the people interviewed, a blog that offers insights that are intuited.

With direct streaming and free ipod downloads I encourage you to access www.planetaudio.org.nz (Click English) or www.holisticliving.co.nz

Next year is coming a feast of information, that I trust will proclaim 2009 the year when planet earth finally comes of age, where its citizens come together to realise that we are all one family within the biosphere and that we deliver solutions and innovation by cooperatively activating them into love in action.

Let us continuously realise the sacredness of life and be thankful to be alive at this time especially to to realise our latent virtues, "as energy bundles of exponential potential."

This is Tim Lynch in the spirit of goodwill, wishing you a Pohutukawa Christmas, a special time of grace where past difficulties and animosities are forgiven as we work together towards a planet of unity, peace and humanity.

GreenplanetFM interviews Steffan Browning, Spokesman for Organic New Zealand

Thursday, December 11th 2008 @ 12:48 PM (not yet rated)    post viewed 1354 times

click to download this audio file

Steffan has been at the forefront of the New Zealand organics movement for twenty years. His successful Bio-Gro horticulture business won both the Horticulture and Supreme awards in the Marlborough Rural Environmental awards in 2003.

His aim is to have genuinely sustainable organics in NZs food, fibre, forestry and fishing industries - which he states, "also makes good business sense."

He has also been active in the green political party narrowly missing out on entering parliament last month.

Listen to a very revealing appraisal of the challenges that organics face, on the frontlines of GE untruths, agribusiness and the unknowingness of government of holistic systems and the wider ramifications of deeper ecology.

GreenplanetFM interviews John Stansfield of Waiheke Island

John Stansfield of Waiheke Island - Materialising the dream of an organic farm in community, to pioneering waste management and recycling.

How do we build intentional community, what are the dynamics, the rules, if any? What are the common threads that bind people to each other, and how do we do co-operation and fun, that enables us as participators to both love and cry to evolve a successful venture?

Listen to a delightful understanding of how an organic dream grew into an oasis of fulfillment as well as extending into a waste stream management and recycling system that in many ways is a world leader.

With current global events pointing us towards community and cooperation, see how gardens, organics and neighbourhood support overlap with Transition Towns as Waiheke Islanders pioneer the shaping of an experiment of sustainability, goodwill and families.
