The startling effects of WIFI (Wireless Appliances)

Tuesday, January 26th 2010 @ 7:14 PM (not yet rated)    post viewed 873 times

I'd like to share the amazing experience I had just yesterday in realizing first-hand the detremental effects of WIFI (wireless internet and wireless office devices).

For several weeks *(see note below) I had been feeling extremely de-motivated about work. Symptoms included feeling unclear, unable to think, complete lethargy, verging on what I would classify as mild depression. I had been putting it down to all sorts of factors (I need a break... it's Christmas...maybe I'm low in iron...the weather's really muggy) even starting to contemplate maybe I was losing enthusiasm for my work and needed a complete job change! I even went to have my bloods checked just to see if something was really going on, and also booked a Journey process with a friend to see what 'emotional' stuff might be making me feel depressed.

Then last night I was sitting in my office, trying to summon up some enthusiasm to do some work, and I remembered an email I had received from a friend about a DVD he was showing on the effects of wireless appliances. And I thought to myself, "well, I have a wireless router in my office, what if I were to switch it off?" 'No, I'll wait until I've seen the DVD' I thought, and then immediately thought again, "no, why not just try it"?

So, I turned the unit off, and also unplugged the wireless keyboard and mouse. I kid you not when I say I felt better within 60 seconds. SIXTY SECONDS!** (See note below). However, the truth was I felt better. *** (See note below). Within that time my head felt clearer, and it was like the air around me in the room cleared too. (Of course this makes perfect sense now that I understand about the 'EM Smog' that wireless devices immerse us in). Initially I thought I must be imagining the change, although I had not had any great expectations of results. And if I had had any expectations, I certainly didn't think the effect would be so quick!

I was feeling so much better I was able to do my evening Qi Gong practice which I had slowly been losing enthusiasm for too over a number of days. It was as if I was a new person.

WIRELESS FACTS
(Stats taken from the BBC Panorama Documentary below)

So then I sat down to watch the DVD and boy are the facts interesting:

  • France has just passed a law stopping the advertising of cell phones to children
  • In Sweden EMF sensitivity (Electro-magnetic radiation) is recognized as a disability and the government will paint your house with anti-radiation paint if you need it.
  • If only one person in school in Sweden complains of the negative effects of EMF radiation from WIFI, it will be turned off and investigated.
  • Switzerland, Italy, Russia, China and other countries have exposure limits THOUSANDS of times lower than in other countries such as the UK.
  • In Salzburg (Austria) the government advises against WIFI in schools altogether.

The reality is we are living in what has now been called an 'EM smog'. Whilst many people do not consciously notice the effects of this, 'Electro-Hypersensitives' do. This EM smog fills the air around us, penetrating every cell and affecting the functioning of our mind and body. Cell phones and WIFI have a similar frequency to microwaves, and we all know what happens if you end up inside one of them. And I've heard that having a WIFI router in your home is the equivalent of having a cell phone tower in your living room! Really?

Despite all the evidence of the harmful effects of radiation, the WHO (The World Health Organization, not the band) have stated that "there are no known adverse health effects from low level, long term exposure". However, research has indicated that radio frequency radiation can cause changes in cognitive function (yes, I can definitely vouch for that), molecular changes in the cells, chromosome damage, decrease in short-term memory and cancer induction.

The bizarre thing is that ICNIRP, the international regulatory body that sets the limits for safe radiation, does not recognize the biological effects of radiation. Instead it bases exposure limits on a THERMAL effect: in other words, the radiation has to be so strong it has to heat your organs up before it is recognized as a problem! For goodness sake!  (And there we are back at the microwave analogy again - remember all the poodles who didn't fare too well when microwaves first came out?).

People may continue to dispute that cellphones and WIFI are harmful, but this morning I got up like a new person and spent all day in my office for the first time in 8 weeks. I got work done which I had been procrastinating on for ages. Even small tasks had felt overwhelming.

So I encourage you to consider the effects of EMF radiation if you cannot find the cause of your symptoms, and in particular to check your wireless devices. (And by the way, to check the 'available wireless networks' on your computer - you could be sitting in a soup of WIFI waves from the local cafe, business or neighbours too). Yes, my office now looks like spagetti junction with all the wires back in place, but boy it's worth it.

* Note from above re length of effects:

Although I say several weeks, actually, afterwards, once my mind was clearer, I saw that this had been going on for much longer than 8 weeks. Infact, I had not been feeling great for a while, infact for over a year.

Six months previously I had been feeling extraordinarily and unusually tired and not sleeping well (which was unusual for me as I normally sleep well). I had even gone to see a naturopath and was contemplating supplements for adrenal fatigue. The interesting thing is, which I realized after my mind cleared, was that during that time I had re-arranged my bed furniture and my headboard was now next to the wall of my office, which meant my head was closer to the WIFI router.

Then, when I tracked back even further, when I asked myself "When was the last time I felt well?" the answer that came back was about 14 months ago, that was when I noticed myself going down hill. And then I asked myself, "And when did I get WIFI?" - I couldn't remember exactly, I knew it was within the previous 2 years. So I looked it up (fortunately, I had printed out my WIFI password and the piece of paper was dated) and it was 14 months previous. It's always easy to understand things in retrospect, and now that I look back, it seems pretty clear to me that as soon as that router was switched on, it started to have a negative effect on my body.

** Note from above re body responding in 60 seconds

This to me shows met yet again the amazing and natural self-healing abilities of the body. When we give it what it needs, it automatically heals. INSTANTLY. I have noticed this in Mickel Therapy - when you do what is right for your body, it will respond IMMEDIATELY. It is amazing and beautiful to watch and witness. Our main problem is that if we put ourselves (ie, our body) in situations which are adverse to the it's natural functioning, it puts it into a constant state of stress, which means its using all its energy and effot to try and get back into a state of balance, which means it can't fulfil its normal functions properly.

This is akin to saying the immune system is being put into a constant state of overload or red alert, which over-taxes its ability to do its job with normal ease. So we need to make sure that we are giving our body what it needs to function well. I hope that makes sense!

*** Note from above re feeling better

One of the problems about not feeling well is that it's often not until we feel better that we realize how unwell we were actually feeling before. Unfortunately we acclimatize ourselves to not feeling well and then without realizing it come to think that's normal! This is actually true for many things in life. What we get used to, we think is normal, and then we forget what normal actually is.

So it wasn't until my head cleared, my energy picked up and I felt so much more uplifted that I realized how bad I had actually been feeling.

SYMPTOMS FROM WIFI EXPOSURE

These are the symptoms that I now realize I was experiencing as a result of WIFI exposure. I am sure there may be many others, this is just my list!

  • Feeling low
  • Unable to concentrate or think clearly
  • Unable to get on with work tasks
  • Not sleeping well
  • Feeling extraordinary tiredness
  • Not feeling well at home, especially in the office (where the router was) and feeling better as soon as I went out
  • De-motivated

SYMPTOMS OF IMPROVEMENT

These are the differences I am noticing now:

  • Feeling lighter and clearer in my head
  • Feeling 'uplifted' emotionally and mentally
  • Feeling happier
  • The 'air' in my office feels clearer
  • Feeling motivated

Hi Kim, really interesting experience you have had with the WIFI. And some interesting facts you point to as well. I have had a similar experience with cordless phones. My hearing has gone really bad on the left side (the side that I have been using for talking on the phone for the past few years). I just started switching to my right ear to hear better, but immediately felt effects such as heat and stinging in my right ear. Now I have decided to put the old phone back or talk only through the speaker phone.

Hi Kim, Yes...these detrimental effects have been well known to me for a number of years.http://www.positivelifebalance.com/Articles/personal_resonators/tabid/12745/Default.aspx

I've introduced many people to the Personal Resonators that support the body from the negative effects of EMFs.

I've been using the Personal Resonators myself for several years now and find, due to the effectiveness of them, combined with the very reasonable price, they are becoming a very popular purchase.

The small Resonators create a very slow resonance that helps to balance the body 24 hours a day. When the body is subjected to the very fast vibrations from many man made appliances, such as mobile phones and computers, is has great difficulty in functioning effectively.

Kim...If you would like to try the Personal Resonators - after checking out the information on my website - I will be very pleased to gift you a pack of 6 Personal Resonators for you to try.

 Cheers, Judith  Smile

thanks Judith, appreciate your offer. I may take you up. However, one thing that is very important for me to share is how important it is for people (ie myself) to constantly upgrade our own vibration (Qi) so that we are less or no longer affected by outer circumstances, whether that be people and appliances etc. I have total faith in the body to withstand these energies, it just takes work to build that internal strength. However, in the meantime, I do agree it's useful to use additional external devices to help protect the body and enhance its strength. I'll be in touch!

Body intelligence, safety, survival and trust

Tuesday, January 26th 2010 @ 1:20 PM (not yet rated)    post viewed 275 times

The other day I had an interesting experience which reinforced the concept and importance of ‘Body Intelligence'.

I was with a friend and his daughter, age 8 years. Whilst she was eating breakfast she complained that her food tasted off. He told her not to worry about it. She re-iterated that it really did taste off. He again told her not to worry about it. She again said it didn’t taste right.

By this stage, I could no longer keep my mouth shut. I know that if she was tasting soemthing odd, then the probability was she was right. And two important issues came to mind for me:

  1. Our body has an inherant system for food-safety testing. It’s called our smell and taste-buds. We need to know that we are eating edible food so that we do not poison ourselves. All animals know this too, which is why cats and dogs will not eat food that is off. This intelligence is known as animal instinct and has been developed and passed down from our ancestors for centuries.

  2. We have an in-built system in our gut that tells us if something is ok or not. It’s called ‘gut feeling’. We are born with this system switched ‘on’ and as long as we are encouraged to use it, it will stay ‘on’. However, if we are trained, through unconsciously being told not to listen to it, we will stop trusting this feedback system. Whilst it can never fully switch itself off, as it is an inbuilt system, we can switch ourselves off from noticing it. This is how we lose the connection to our innate body intelligence.

This then sets up a dilemna for a while, because we know intuitively what feels right, but we are told by people who we think know everything and are considered 'Gods' (caregivers), that our feelings are not to be trusted. So where can we go from there. Up to the head of course, the only place left to go! After all, “it’s the only logical thing to do”.  And so we start training ourselves to rationalise, analyse, think and work everything out with our head.

This then brings in another problem: WE BEGIN TO STOP TRUSTING. As we lose the body-mind connection, we start to lose trust in ourselves. This is a crime in itself, and leads to lack of belief in self, approval-seeking, low self-esteem and poor decision-making. As we stop trusting our body, we STOP LISTENING to the messages it sends us. And because this habit starts at an early age, by the time we are adults we have no idea we have even done it.

It simply doesn’t work, only living from the head. We cannot stay healthy if we are constantly over-riding our body intelligence, as the thousands of ill people around the world are testament to. We need to be using all our intelligences  – intuition, instinct and intellect – in order to function as a fully integrated (whole) being.

The wonderful thing about this incident was that the daughter FELT SAFE enough to speak her truth – three times. This shows she did not fear criticism or punishment from the parent, and that she has a good sense of self. For that I was grateful.

So let’s give our children the gift of trusting their intuition and gut feelings so that they grow up to trust their body intelligence, which is here first and foremost to keep them safe, happy and healthy. Hallelujah! There's hope for us yet!

Why being stuck in a perspective can keep us, well, stuck… (and unwell)

Tuesday, January 26th 2010 @ 12:16 PM (not yet rated)    post viewed 269 times

“Out beyond all ideas of right-doing and wrong-doing there is a field
 - I’ll meet you there”

Rumi, Sufi mystic and poet

One of the lessons I have been learning recently is how being attached to a particular outlook or perspective can prevent us from getting well. These perspectives are indicative of underlying beliefs and paradigms about life, which become so transparent we do not even see them. However, not seeing them does not mean they are not there or are not affecting our overall health.

So why do I say that being stuck in a perspective can prevent us from getting well, ie, keep us ill? Because underneath the perspective / belief / paradigm will usually be some FEELINGS which we are usually subconsciously avoiding by staying stuck in our perspective. It is these deeply repressed feelings which are blocking our cells and keeping us less than well – infact literally internally divided – which we need to get in touch with.

The interesting thing is, these perspectives usually play out as ‘the need to be right at all costs’. And at some point, we come to realize that if we wish to make progress, we are going to have to go beyond ideas of right and wrong. This is a huge ask for many people, as it requires humility, courage and vulnerability, plus the ability to feel old unwanted feelings.

To give an example which will help understand what I am talking about:

Last year I agreed with a friend to work on a project. We decided which tasks each of us would do, and due to his tasks needing to be completed first, I waited until he had completed his before beginning. The next thing I knew, a week later, I received an email to say he had completed both sets of tasks. My feathers were immediately ruffled as I had been looking forward to my part of the project. I immediately put my Mickel Therapy tools into place by saying ‘How I felt’ about what had happened (key 2) and what I would have liked (key 3). This was all well and good and my body felt better for speaking my truth.

However, he then rejected what I said, (in other words, he had ‘another perspective’), and it was apparent that ‘never the twain shall meet’. I was deeply hurt and shocked that he did not see ‘my point of view’ as our agreement over tasks had been (I thought) quite clear.

At that point, I realized that the only person that could do anything about this situation was me. I started to ask myself, OK, what’s this situation REALLY trying to teach me? And more to the point, how do I actually FEEL?

I realized that huge feelings of betrayal and injustice were rising up inside. And I sensed that I had come to that critical point where I had to ‘let go of the story’ (whatever that story was, and whether I felt I was ‘right’), and give myself permission to feel those feelings.  And very importantly to allow myself to feel the feelings without any attachment to the story my mind was attaching itself to.

So I very consciously chose ‘yes, I choose to feel what I am feeling right now’, without being attached to the story. And so the healing commenced.

It was excruciating, as I tapped into the pain in my heart that had been there for years, which I was avoiding by staying in wanting to be right. I felt like my heart had been sliced open with a pairing knife, and that a river of poisonous venom was being let out.

There was nothing logical to this event. And there was nothing I could do to lessen the pain by thinking about it or rationalizing it away. I simply had to feel it. These were feelings that had been ‘festering’ inside of me for years, and I had been avoiding feeling by protecting and surrounding the heart with criticalness and judgement. It was time to let it go. The process lasted about 3 days, where I went through despair and heart-felt pain like I had never experienced before. Even so, I knew that a great healing was taking place, and that this was a gift.

And for the first time I understood the saying by the wonderful mystic Rumi “Out beyond all ideas of right-doing and wrong-doing there is a field – I’ll meet you there”.

So, next time you find yourself caught in a “I’m right, you’re wrong” scenario, and you want to move beyond it to find the jewel in the treasure chest of the situation, ask yourself one of two questions:

  1. What feelings am I avoiding feeling by staying right?
  2. What do I feel if I cut off the story that is associated with being right?

And then allow yourself to FEEL whatever it is that is wanting to be felt.

When we learn to let go of our perspective and transcend right and wrong, (even if we know we were so-called ‘right’), we take ourselves to a bigger perspective where we see that everything that happens is there to help us evolve into a better and bigger person.

From a health perspective, the pain that had been inside my heart, blocking my cells, was gone forever, freeing up my ability to be more compassionate and loving towards both myself and others. Even though it was emotionally excruciatingly painful at the time, I am eternally grateful for the lesson.

Do you really want to heal or ‘just get rid of’ your symptoms?

Tuesday, January 26th 2010 @ 12:02 PM (not yet rated)    post viewed 312 times

The difference between healing and fixing

One of the most common phrases I hear from clients is they 'want to get rid of their symptoms'. And if I had been given a dollar every time a client asked me "Will you fix me?", and even "Will you fix me in one session?", I would have a lot of dollars in the bank!  I have learnt (and am still learning through my own personal experience), that there is a huge difference between healing and fixing. So this is the topic of this post.

By the time people start noticing symptoms – whether it be of emotional, mental or physical pain – there will usually have been a host of factors that have occurred in that person’s life which have been a precursor to the manifestation of the actual symptoms. Unfortunately, the early warning signs that the body sent were missed. (If they had been noticed, the person would probably not be experiencing symptoms).

NEW PERSPECTIVE

So what I’m getting at here, is that there are reasons for the body becoming ill, for exhibiting a state of ‘dis-ease’, and these will often be a host of factors including poor lifestyle habits, perpetuation of stress, negative thinking, traumatic events -  in fact, anything which the body finds detremental to a good state of health. The bottom line is, if our mind, emotions and body are not in an inner state of harmony, this puts too much of a load on the various body systems, and it can only handle the extra load for so long. At some point, the body is going to say “That’s it, I’ve had enough, I cannot handle what is going on, I’m now going to get your attention by screaming at you with symptoms’.

At this point, most people seem surprised! This only goes to show just how much we are out of touch with what is going on inside our body. The signs were there, we just missed them.

NEW AWARENESS

So, if what has been happening in our lives, and the habits and patterns we have created, have brought us to this point, we can now start to see that illness is an opportunity for change. We could say that ‘illness is a healthy reaction to an unhealthy situation’.And as the old saying goes, ‘The definiton of insanity is doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different result’.

Then, it starts to make sense that healing goes far beyond just ‘getting rid of symptoms’. We are being asked to change: our habits, our lifestyle, and most importantly our awareness of ourselves. One of my teacher’s favourite sayings is ‘The Key to healing is awareness’. Once we are aware of what it is we are doing or have done that have led up to illness, we then have CHOICE over where to go from here. Awareness brings choice.

So yes, you can undergo therapy or treatment to relieve your symptoms, but if you don’t learn why they were there in the first place, the likelyhood is they will come back again, or be replaced by another set of symptoms. The choice is yours. Which would you prefer? Do you want to learn and grow and change, or do you want to go back to where you were to start with and stay exactly the same?

EVOLUTION AND TRANSFORMATION

True healing involves delving a lot deeper than just expecting someone to ‘fix’ you and your symptoms. It involves getting actively involved in your healing process so that you learn why your body has become ‘dis-eased’. The additional benefit of this is that as you start to do this, you become less preoccupied with eradicating symptoms and more interested in your own healing journey and what I call ‘the bigger picture of life’. You start to see that you are actually on this earth to EVOLVE, to change, to transform, and ultimately to become a better you.

Learning to see illness and health from a different perspective changes everything. Paradoxically, once we start to take more responsibility for our health and healing journey, a space opens up inside for healing to occur. This could never have happened if we had been solely focused on eradicating symptoms.  Understanding the true meaning of healing, ‘to become whole’, is a true gift which each person who understands it will cherish.

I wish you well on your healing journey!
