“We must follow,
First and foremost,
The advice that we give to others”- Sri Chinmoy
Editor-Catherine Opie
Here we are again. I have landed once more after falling off my pedestal!
This quote fell out of a pile of papers this week at a time when I really needed to see it- as these things do.
A car accident two weeks ago on SH1 just north of the Auckland Harbour Bridge was a big reality check for me.
My first accident after 16 years of driving all over the world in all sorts of conditions.
I have had many miraculous near misses (like the time in the UK I drove right through the middle of a pile up on the motorway, cars spinning around me, to emerge without a scratch!)
I am simply very grateful that no one was hurt, that I have fully comp. insurance and the only damage done was to the cars. I am disappointed in myself that this had to happen for me to learn the lesson, however, it is possible that being a good driver and my angels working overtime prevented it from being much, much worse!
I am now taking my own advice, along with some of our excellent treatments, to help my recovery and avert my collision course before it’s too late!
What's more important: getting to the ferry on time or alive? Hmmm, let me just think about that one for a moment...............
BE Clinic is going from strength to strength, we are about to open our new studio and seminar room in about three weeks time. The list of services we offer grows every day and there's lots of exciting stuff happening over the next few months, so watch our space and come to try out some of our yummy treatments, infrared sauna, Balanced Energy fresh facials a seminar or a class or two to brighten up your winter.
Balanced Energy Health Consultant Angela Van Trijp's tip of the week:
With the winter blue chill creeping up, now is a great time to stimulate and boost the immune system to help keep colds and flu’s at bay. There are many simple ways to achieve this in your own home, by simply adding Ginger root, Lemons and Manuka honey to your shopping list.
A great ‘get up and go’ kick start drink in the morning is a hot Lemon, Honey and Ginger drink.
Ginger is warming, stimulating and invigorating, helping to clear cold conditions, such as the chilling effects of winter.
Manuka honey has an active component of being antibacterial and antiviral which is essential in fighting the common cold and flu.
Lemons are full of vitamin C. This necessary vitamin promotes the production of white blood cells essential for building immunity but needs to be obtained from your everyday diet as the body does not produce vitamin C on its own
Simply grate some Ginger into a cup of hot water, add a squeeze and a slice or two of a lemon and a teaspoon of honey to naturally sweeten the mix. Try Manuka honey as it has a superior anti-bacterial action.
