Big fat loser update

Monday, October 12th 2009 @ 7:55 AM (not yet rated)    post viewed 628 times

Well that's a week now since I started the VLCD (Very Low Calorie Diet) part of the Simeons' Weight Loss Protocol and I thought I had better publish an update.

During the week I have taken two sublingual doses of hCG and eaten 500 calories each day, done some mild exercise and weighed myself every morning.

That has resulted in a weight loss of 5.7kg (12.5 US lb) since this time last week. There were some large losses at the beginning (1.5 kg the first day) which I guess was to do with water retention, but now it has settled down over the last three days to an average of 0.5kg per day (just over 1 US pound) which is the expected weight loss.

I feel great. I haven't lost enough yet to make much of a visual difference, (my clothes are beginning to fit better, rather than fall off) but I am less bloated, less tired and, remarkably, less HUNGRY. I'm finding it easier to breathe at night (sinusitis has always been my constant companion) and even my arthritic challenges seem to be easing. I can make a fist with my right hand, which is a great improvement.

I haven't had any major cravings. My energy levels are greater during the day, but I do admittedly get a little tired at night. Maybe that's my body telling me that I should be tucked up asleep by 10pm for optimal health. Rather than staying up to watch the cricket.

I've also gone nine days without a glass of wine. Without wanting a glass of wine.

The only downside (actually a benefit) for me is that I have had to change my lunchtime routine. Whereas before, I didn't actually have a lunchtime, just grabbed a cheese sandwich which I ate at my desk, now I'm taking time out and cooking my 100 grams of protein and eating from on a plate, at the table. It makes me slow down and eat while I'm less stressed. I guess working from home makes that a little easier, but if I was in an office perhaps that wouldn't be an issue anyway - I would make sure I took my lunch break.

Today is something of a test, as we have some friends arriving from out of town. Our usual thing would be to go out and have a couple of drinks and either a Thai meal, or an Indian meal. Neither of which I can eat on the plan, as I can't think of an allowable meal at those restaurants that doesn't use 'forbidden' sauces.

I'll let you know the outcome in next week's report.
