5 Essential Oils Everyone Should Have at Home

With hundreds of essential oils to choose from, we’ve put together the top five essential oils we recommend you always have at home.

Lavender Oil:  Lavender oil has a gorgeous, fresh floral scent and is one of the most versatile of all essential oils. Lavender oil has a calming effect which does wonders for those suffering from anxiety. Medicinally, it can be used as an antiseptic and pain reliever to soothe minor burns, insect bites, stings and muscle or joint pain.

It’s a great scent to use on a day-to-day basis, one breath and you’ll feel blissful. Try 5-10 drops on your sheets next time you change the bed and see how you feel when you go to bed at night!.

Tea Tree Oil:  A widely popular form of alternative medicine, tea tree oil is a great natural product with many benefits and no side-effects! The range of properties of Tea Tree Oil makes it very useful for everyday use. Its antiseptic properties make it useful for cleansing and de-infecting minor wounds.

Put some drops in your bath and see how it works wonders at clearing up congestion or sinuses. You can also use it as an all-purpose cleaner and to disinfect your laundry by putting a few drops of it in the washing machine.

Eucalyptus Oil:  This oil has a very fresh and clean aroma that is sure to open your airways up.  Eucalyptus oil is anti-everything, and in this case it’s a good thing. It is a natural antibacterial, antifungal, antimicrobial, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory.

It is best used for respiratory problems like colds, coughs, asthma, and congestion in addition to wounds, muscle pain, mental exhaustion, dental care, and skin care. A couple of drops in a hot bath is a great natural way to clear up congested nasal passages.

Lemon Oil With its uplifting and fresh scent, lemon oil is a stimulus that can help increase concentration and mental awareness. It is also another anti-bacterial making it a wonderful fix for scrapes, cuts, boils and other open wounds. Pure lemon essential oil can be used to clean and sterilize your home while making it smell amazing.

Peppermint Peppermint oil has a very stimulating, fresh, grassy-minty aroma. Not only is it effective in arousing your mental sharpness but it can be used to relieve congestion, headaches, migraines, digestive problems, and soothe achy muscles. To help get rid of headaches simply rub a tiny bit on your temple. or to relieve muscle soreness dilute it with a carrier oil, like grape seed oil, and rub it into whatever is sore. Avoid during pregnancy.

It is really important, essential in fact, that when you are using essential oils that they are 100% pure, therapeutic grade. You will need to dilute most essential oils with carrier oils or water, depending on what you are going to use the essential oil for. As with all things – if you have any health concerns, consult with your doctor.
