Food Standards Australia New Zealand is considering allowing manufacturers to voluntarily add fluoride to bottled water.
FSANZ spokeswoman Lydia Buchtmann says there have been concerns children who do not have access to fluoridated tap water are missing out.
Ms Buchtmann says bottles containing fluoride will have to be labelled. She says probably only ten percent of the market will add fluoride to their products, but it will give parents a choice.
A report into fluoridation of bottled water is available for public comment.
